October 16, 1931 - September 12, 2022
Jean M. Vernon (nee Fox) born October 16, 1931, in Galahad, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on September 12, 2022, after a long and fierce battle with Alzheimer's.
Jean leaves behind her son Gregg (Monica), daughters Lori (Greg) and Susan (Rick) and six grandchildren, Ryan (Niki), Matthew (Karyn), Robert (Sarah), Erin, Jennie (Matt), and Andrew, three great grandchildren, siblings Eileen (Terry), Edward and Len (Janet).
Jean was predeceased by her husband Glenn Vernon, her daughter Janice Vernon and grandson Steven Hoffman.
Jean was raised in Galahad, Alberta, along with her 10 brothers and sisters. The family moved to Calgary in her teens where she later met and married Glenn Eric Vernon. Jean and Glenn moved to Dawson Creek in the Peace River country in 1957 where they raised their 4 children. After retiring they moved to Chilliwack to be closer to their daughters.
Jean loved to read, learn, and expanded her mind well into her 80s. Jean was a Diamond level Beta Sigma Phi of which she was a member for over 60 years. She spent many happy years with her secret sisters. Once a widow, Jean joined several clubs such as Probus, Red Hat and book clubs. Jean travelled to England, France, Spain, Greece, Mexico and to Bogota, Colombia, to visit her son. Cruised the Panama Canal and South America with a group of friends in addition to many trips to visit family in Washington and Alberta.
Jean loved big family dinners with all the fixings and, most important, with all her family and friends.
A very heart felt thank you to the dedicated staff at Agassiz Senior Community for their wonderful care. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
We love you and will miss you always.
