Jan (John) KLOOT

To our deep sorrow, after a short illness with ALS, it pleased the Lord to take John out of our midst. Late of Rosedale, B.C. and born at Ede, the Netherlands April 3, 1929. John passed away at the Chilliwack General Hospital on August 14, 2002 at the age of 73 years. He had lived in this area for 48 years. John was a well known cattle dealer and dairy farmer in this area for many years.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 19, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. at The Netherlands Reformed Congregation with Rev. Pieter Van Ruitenburg officiating. Interment at Chilliwack Cemeteries. Casket Bearers: William Kloot, Chris Kloot, Alfred Kloot, Jim Kloot, Frank Kloot and John Van Gent. Honorary Bearers: Peter Oostlander, Dirk Cluistra, Harry Van Hemert and Jonathan Kloot.

John is survived by his wife Alice, sons William (Jocelyn) Kloot and their daughter Aliyah, Jonathan Kloot, Chris (Nella) Kloot and their son Steven. Also survived by one brother Frank (Coba) Kloot of Chilliwack, and seven sisters Pietje (Kees) Van Gent, Riek Van den Berg, Cor Van Gent, Alie van den Bosch, Jannie de Koning, Ans van Beek, Joopie Breunissen, and one sister-in-law Ger Kloot, all of the Netherlands, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Ontario, many nieces and nephews in Chilliwack, Alberta, Ontario and the Netherlands.

He was predeceased by his parents Willem Kloot in 1972 and Janna Kloot-Boers in 1978, two brothers Willem in 1975 and Arie in 1983 and six brothers-in-law in the Netherlands and his parents-in-law in Ontario.

Should family and friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the ALS Society.
