John Van Gent went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Goderich, Ontario at the age of 67. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ineke; son, Jan "John" and Jaime Van Gent (Auburn, ON) and their children Victoria, Jan "John", Kacey and Caitlin; daughter, Michelle and Len Kuipers (Chilliwack, BC) and their children Ashton and Mya; and daughter, Joyce and Tyson Hein (Hunter River, PE) and their children Lily-anne, Levi and Tevan; sisters Corrie Van Gent (Netherlands) and Jannie van Veldhuizen (Netherlands).
He is predeceased by his father Jan Cornelis Van Gent, mother Pietje Van Gent, brother-in-law Jan van Veldhuizen and nephew Evert van Veldhuizen.
He was a retired farmer who enjoyed spending his time helping his son, John, on the family farm (Ontario) in the summer. In winter he loved to tinker on old cars and equipment in Chilliwack. During his life he loved his farm equipment and working together with his long-time partner and best friend, Jack Glazema.
