June 13, 1927 - July 10, 2021
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Wellington Young. He will be missed every day. Jim was born in Chilliwack on June 13th 1927, and passed away peacefully on July 10th 2021.
Jim married the love of his life, Dolly, in July of 1949 and they were blessed with four sons.
Jim spent his childhood years in the Harrison Mills area on a farm, then moved to Chilliwack for schooling. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a carpenter and worked around the Chilliwack area for the Adair, Voth and Mckenzie construction companies before going into the business for himself in the late 1960's. Jim continued working well into his retirement years, as he always seemed to have a project going on and was always happy to use his skills to help others out.
Jim, an avid outdoorsman, spent many days fishing on the Fraser and Vedder Rivers. He also enjoyed fishing many of the lakes in the Cariboo/Chilcotin regions, including Loon Lake, where he and his family built a log cabin in the 1960's. Jim was also a respected hunter, with many moose, deer and goats to his name. Even at 90 years young, he was happy to be hunting and riding his trusty quad.
Jim is survived by his four sons; Ted (Monica), Ron (Loretta), Gord, and Dave (Bev), his sister Pat (Vic) Pauls, many nieces and nephews, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim is predeceased by his parents Herb and Christine, his wife Dolly and his brother Bill.
Special thanks to Dr. Ross and all the staff at Heritage Village for all the care that our Dad received in his final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
