November 7, 1935 - June 13, 2018
James Massey Cumyn aged 82 passed away peacefully at Cascade Hospice on June 13, 2018 after a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Survived by his wife Ruth of 60 years, daughter Laurie Bedford (Gord), son Glenn (Estella), grandchildren Amanda, Leah, Erin, and Samuel who he adored and was very proud of.

Jim (aka Blackie) joined the Canadian Army (RCEME) in 1956 and served in Petawawa, Montreal, London, Ont., Borden, Germany, Yuma (AZ), Egypt, Cyprus and Ottawa where he retired from military service in 1988 and continued to work as a civilian until 1990. After retiring in 1990 Jim and Ruth moved to Chilliwack where he enjoyed camping, golfing, travelling and hanging out with his retired military family and friends. He became a member of the Mount Cheam Lions Club in 1997 and served for 21 years in a variety of capacities including President, Secretary and Treasurer.

A memorial service is planned for July 15th at 2:00 pm at the Vedder Legion Br #280, 5661 Vedder Rd.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lions Club International, Wounded Warriors Canada or a charity of your choice.

Special thanks to Dr M Madill, the Cascade Hospice doctors, nurses and volunteers for the wonderful care given to Jim and the comfort and compassion given to the families during their many visits.
