March 9, 1929 - July 26, 2021
On Monday, July 26, 2021, at the age of 92, Jim passed away peacefully with his son Gord and granddaughter Jodie by his side.
He was born in Chilliwack and spent his entire life on the family farm on Camp River Road.
In 1950 he married Phyllis and together they raised their four children, Lorraine, Gord, Jack & Scot.
Sadly, Lorraine passed away in 1971 and Phyllis passed away in 2008.
Jim is survived by his sons, Gord (Wendy), Jack (Trina) and Scot (Connie). His grandchildren, Jodie (Matt), Greg (Samantha), Alica (Kelly), Brad (Barbora), Jesse (Allanah) and great grandchildren Audrey, Annabelle, Oliver, Austin, Charlee and Millee. Also survived by his brother Hugh.
Jim loved animals, not just your normal farm animals but he would have at any given time a pet crow, a pet goose, and even a pet raccoon or two. He even tried to tame an opossum once but that didn't work out.
Jim retired from dairy farming at the age of 55 and took on a new hobby. With no flying experience he purchased an ultralight aircraft and taught himself how to fly. After 32 years and 1300 flying hours, he decided he probably shouldn't be flying at his age.
His grandchildren and all their friends fondly remember Grampa flying over and dropping candy from his plane, always hitting his target. Teaching them to drive the truck up and down the fields even before they could even reach the pedals is another fond memory.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Special thanks to all the staff at Cascade Manor and Cascade Lodge for the special care they gave Jim.
No service has been planned at this time.
