James Edward DUREEN

James Edward Dureen late of Chilliwack, B.C. passed away May 19, 2006 at the age of 73. He was born April 17, 1933 in St. John, New Brunswick.

James was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces 1951 to 1974 serving in the Korean War and Cypress and retired as a Warrant Officer. From 1974 to 1993 he was with the Correction Service of Canada at the Regional Psychiatric Center and Mountain Institution and retired as a Correctional Officer II. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and playing computer and video games.

A reception was held on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. in the Tea Room of Henderson’s Funeral Home.

Cremation, Henderson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium.

James is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie; brother, William “Billy” Dureen and children: James E. (Shirley) Dureen, Melvin (Cathy) Dureen, Keith (Diane) Dureen, Heidi (Charlie) Wall, John “Bob” Dureen, Cathy (Steve) Kelly, Diane (Don) Penner, Ron (Elaine) Penner, Kevin Penner; grandchildren: Ashley, Meghan, Alyssa, Tacye, Tara, Nikki, Miranda, Joel, Angela, Jody, Allan, Dan (Laura), Kirsten; great-grandchildren: Kyra, Arianna, Owen and Olivia.

He was predeceased by Shirley Dureen December 9, 1984.

Should family and friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. and Yukon.
