October 12, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce Jim Beck passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 5, 2018. Jim was born in Vancouver, BC on October 26, 1947. His parents James & Margaret Beck moved to Chilliwack in 1961 and started Beck Motors when Jim was 14 years old.

Jim started dating Marjorie in 1967, they got engaged on Christmas Eve in 1969 and were married on May 14, 1971. They had an amazing 41 years together before Marjorie passed away in July 2013. They loved travelling, golfing and making memories with their family and friends. Following Marjorie's passing, Jim was lucky enough to find Brenda Berry and over the last 4 years they continued the love of travel and it was comforting to see Jim smile and laugh again.

Jim is lovingly remembered by his son and daughter-in-law Clayton & Joanne Beck, his daughter and son-in-law Raeann & Stephen Stewart and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law George & Patricia Sneddon. Jim's four granddaughters Cassidy & Paige Beck and Mackenzie & Marrissa Stewart will always remember Papa Jim (aka the Tickle Monster) chasing them around, cooking them his famous pancakes, giving them golf & softball tips and cheering them on at their sports games.

Jim had a long career with Corrections Canada doing deliveries to the local prisons before he retired in 2011.

Jim leaves behind a huge legacy in our Chilliwack sports community. He was actively involved in hockey and softball, both as a player and a Coach. Through Jim's love of the game, he mentored, taught and influenced many young athletes. Another favourite pastime was fishing at Sheridan Lake and his love of golf came in later years where he enjoyed being a member at Royalwood and being on the greens with his other retired buddies.
