December 14, 1930 – December 7, 2022
Irma was born on December 14, 1930, in Rosemary, Alberta, the fourth of five children born to Helena (Epp) and Peter Dyck. Irma completed high school in Rosemary, and graduated from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Winnipeg in 1958. From 1959-1962, Irma was an MCC nurse in Korea, where she worked at the Taegu Hospital. When she returned from Korea, Irma settled in the Chilliwack area, where her parents and sister Sadie were living at that time.
She worked at Chilliwack hospital for several years until she completed a Diploma in Public Health Nursing at UBC Vancouver in 1967. Irma was a public health nurse in Vernon, BC and in Winnipeg before settling down in Comox, BC in 1971, where she worked in public health until her retirement in 1987. After retirement, she returned to Chilliwack to join her sister Sadie where they passed a happy retirement together, enjoying time with family and friends.
Irma was predeceased by her parents, her step-mother Agatha, her sisters Helen and Sadie, step-sister Elsie, and brother Peter.
A memorial service will be held at Eden Mennonite Church on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 2 pm.
