Irene passed into the presence of her Lord on May 25, 2011, at age 89. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Maureen Mierau (Larry), her son Dennis (Karin), 5 grandchildren - Kevin (Julie), Janelle (Dustin), Jessica (Anthony), Dustin, Brayden (Courtney) and 4 great-grandchildren: Jaylene, Katelyn, Justus and Lukas.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law Ed Schinkel and her sister-in-law Martha Schroeder and many nephews and nieces who were so very special to her.
Irene worked at Eaton’s in Chilliwack as a seamstress for many years. Later, retiring in Abbotsford, she enjoyed knitting doilies, baking buns and pies as well as spending time with friends and family.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Bevan Lodge for their loving care throughout Irene’s stay there. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford. The Memorial Service will be Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11:00 am at Grace Church, 2087 McMillan Rd., Abbotsford. Graveside Service will be held at 9:30 am at Maclure Road Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Samaritan’s Purse would be greatly appreciated.
