January 9, 1966 - September 10, 2020
It is with profound sadness that Joan and George Reimer of Yarrow announce the passing of their daughter Irene Reimer on Sept. 10, 2020 at Chilliwack General Hospital after years of bravely battling health problems. She was 54.
Also left to grieve are brothers David (Krista) and Michael (Brigida) as well as numerous nieces, great-nephews and other relatives. Irene was predeceased by brothers Carl and Gregory, grandparents Hans and Hildegard Reimer, and John and Winnifred Hickling.
Irene was born at Chilliwack General Hospital on Jan. 9, 1966. She attended Yarrow Elementary School, and went to high school at Veddar Junior and Chilliwack Senior, where she graduated.
'Missy' was active in team sports while growing up, and earned the admiration of more than one teacher for her enthusiasm. Irene had an interest in photography as a young adult although it was in the kitchen where she excelled.
She spent most of her working life in the food industry, and at different times baked tasty treats and made meals worthy of the finest tables. Irene also had a love of animals. She and long-time constant companion Stitch, The Wonder Dog, were virtually inseparable until old age claimed her cherished pet.
Irene had a hearty laugh and a larger-than-life personality that shone as bright as her blazing red hair amongst family and close friends. She visited Europe and Mexico in her travels, and was a keen computer gamer.
Due to COVID-19, a celebration of Irene's life will be held at a later date.
