Irene Frances PADGETT

December 9, 2007

(Jan. 1st, 1925 – Dec. 9th, 2007)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom on Sunday, December 9, 2007.

She was born on January 1, 1925 in North Vancouver, BC where she grew up.

In 1933 Irene’s father bought a cottage at Cultus Lake; it was there that Irene developed a passion for swimming. She swam the length of the lake, for the first time, at the age of 9.

Irene later went on to attend St. Paul’s Nursing School in 1943; graduating amongst many life long friends in 1946.

In 1942 she met the love of her life, Jim. They married in 1947 in North Vancouver where they raised their family. Upon retirement they bought a home at Cultus Lake, where they spent many happy years. During this time they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, fishing, and playing late night poker games with their many friends.

Following the death of her husband, Jim, in 1984 Irene spent countless hours working in her garden. Her backyard was a site to be seen.

Irene passed away peacefully at her home at Cultus Lake, BC with her loving daughters by her side. She will be sadly missed by her loving companion Jack; brother, Bill (Marie); daughters: Joan and Jayne (“B”); son Brian (Connie), daughter-in-law, Shannon; grandchildren: Shelby (Kelly), Justin (Tonja), Michelle (Ed), Todd (Carrie), Jordan, and Cody, five-and-a-half great-grandchildren, nieces Deanne and Mo, and her “little” nephew Buzz.

Her zest for life will be cherished by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the BC Cancer Agency, Fraser Valley Cancer Centre, 13750 96th Avenue, Surrey BC. V3V 1Z2
