Ida dyck

September 7, 2007

Ida (Reister) Dyck passed away peacefully Sept. 7, 2007 after a brief stay at the Chilliwack General Hospital. The family sincerely thanks Dr. Julia Bright, Dr. John Hamilton and her long time doctor, Dr. Tingy. The staff of NU 3, (Chwk Gen Hosp.) and the staff at Crystal Ridge Manor also gave exceptional care during her last few months.

Ida was born Oct. 4, 1912 in Halkirk Alberta where she grew up with parents (Christian and Maria) and siblings Chris, Lydia, Fred, and Polly. Hard work was never a stranger to Ida as a part of her farming family, and she will always be remembered as a willing servant to our family and church family. Whenever there was a job to do, Ida was there to help. She left home after a courtship and marriage to Bernard Benjamin Dyck, June 24, 1937. Their first home was in Didsbury Alberta, then a move to Stettler, Alberta, and in 1958 a move to Chilliwack where Ben and Ida with their three children, Wayne, Bryan, and Sharyll continued to make Chilliwack their home. Ida was predeceased by husband Ben who passed away August 7, 2003, and her parents, and siblings Chris, Fred, and Polly. She is survived by sister Lydia. She is also survived by children Wayne (Joyce) Dyck, Bryan (Katherine) Dyck, and Sharyll (Dave) Glasstetter, grandchildren Jeffrey (Sandra) Dyck, Shelley Dyck, Ryan (Jennifer) Dyck, Laura Glasstetter, Maria Johnston, Sheila (Paul) Marshall, and Benjamin Glasstetter, great grandchildren Jordan and Natalia, Olivia and Alyse, Jesse and Evan, Josh, Steven, Caleb, Sarah, and Liam.

Ida found great joy in her family from the oldest to the youngest. Her smile and twinkle in her eyes will always be remembered. We will miss her, but rejoice that she is in her new home in heaven, where she has reunited with loved ones already gone.

Her Memorial service will be held Friday, September 14, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the Chilliwack Christian and Missionary Alliance Church on Young Street. There will be a reception to follow at the church.
