Nov. 25, 1933 – Feb. 12, 2009

Ian went quietly in his sleep after a brave battle with cancer.

He is survived by wife Mary Chalmers Main (nee Buchanan) daughters Alison (John Tourneur) and Heather and sister Isabel.

He was born in Dunfermline Scotland in 1933 to John and Agnes Main. He came to Canada from Scotland in the 1950’s and settled eventually in Vancouver, BC.

He never forgot his childhood sweetheart Mary and they were married in August of 1960. They were blessed with two daughters.

Ian was an enthusiastic model railway hobbyist participating in numerous railway shows throughout the Lower Mainland and Lynden, Washington. He was awarded first place several times for his railway layouts. He was also a keen videographer making countless railway and travel films.

He and Mary enjoyed travelling abroad and visited various exotic locations.

The family would like to extend their thanks and good wishes to the staff and volunteers at Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack for their generosity of spirit and making a difficult time much easier to bear.

A memorial service will be conducted on February 28, 2009 at 2 pm at Avalon Funeral Home in Surrey.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Ian to The Chilliwack Hospice Society, 45360 Hodgins Avenue, Chilliwack, BC V2P 1P5
