It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Orv passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

Orv was born in Wapella Saskatchewan to Percy and Iris Underhill. When he was 12 he moved to Moosomin, Saskatchewan with his parents and brother Lyle where the family farmed. Orv grew up farming, trapping and working at the local school house. He graduated from Moosomin High School and proceeded to teach school from grade one through nine in a one room school house. He then decided to apply for the Air Force and RCMP, deciding to go with the first to respond.

On February 1, 1956 Orv was sworn to the RCMP and joined B Troop at Depot Division in Regina, Saskatchewan. Orv's first post was Vancouver Sub-Division where he met Ingrid in October of 1956. In November they began dating and were engaged the next year when he was transferred to Kitimat, then Terrace and then to Burnaby.

Orv and Ingrid were married on February 14, 1959 in Vancouver. They next moved to Burns Lake then the tiny one man Detachment in Falkland. This one man post saw Ingrid as the second man looking after the Detachment while Orv was out on the road. They then moved to Sechelt where Orv was a Corporal in charge of the Detachment, then Merritt as a Sergeant and finally ending up in Chilliwack. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in Chilliwack where he worked as Admin and Operations NCO, retiring in June of 1990 after 34 years.

During their travels with the RCMP, Orv and Ingrid had their family with Christina born in Vancouver, Brian born in Burns Lake, Eric born in Vernon while in Falkland and Darin born in Sechelt. The family spent their longest post in Chilliwack where they settled and made roots. They made so many life long friends in each of their postings and continue to stay in touch. Orv had a love of curling and spent over 37 years curling with the 3 farmers, Walter, John and Ken.

Orv is survived by his wife Ingrid of 59 years, Christina and kids Elisabeth, Nicholas, Mackenzie and Jake, Brian and Paula with kids Brianna and Danielle, Eric and Sandra with kids Adeline and Emma, Darin and Linda with kids Robert, Alexandra and Dayna, great-granddaughter Laila(Elisabeth).

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday March 18 at the Chilliwack Curling Club from 1:00 to 4:00 pm with speech's starting at 2:00 pm. We welcome all family and friends to attend, tell us a story and share in fond memories.
