Howard was an active and avid outdoorsman and over the years loved to spend time hunting, fishing, skiing, and hiking the back country. Howard was with the Osoyoos Volunteer Fire Department for 33 years, much of that time as Assistant Fire Chief. He was also at one time very active with the Elks Lodge.
