A memorial Celebration of Life for the late Howard Compeau will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 from the Osoyoos United Church at 1:30 p.m. with Jim MacNaughton officiating. Private family graveside committal preceded the service. A reception will follow the service in the Osoyoos United Church Hall.

Howard will be lovingly remembered by his family, including Marjorie, his devoted wife of 62 years; his daughter Cherri (Bill) of Chilliwack; and his son Bob (Sharon) of Yakima, WA.; grandchildren, Brian (Leanne), Charlene, J.J., and Tony; as well as two great-grandchildren, Miranda and Anthony; and his sister Sylvia MacLean of Chilliwack. He was predeceased by his infant daughter.

Howard was born, raised, educated, and married in Chilliwack where he began his farming and butcher career. Howard and Marjorie came to Osoyoos in 1948, where he continued his career as a butcher at Howard’s Meats, and later in partnership at Super Valu. He later purchased an orchard and farmed for a time.

Howard was an active and avid outdoorsman and over the years loved to spend time hunting, fishing, skiing, and hiking the back country. Howard was with the Osoyoos Volunteer Fire Department for 33 years, much of that time as Assistant Fire Chief. He was also at one time very active with the Elks Lodge. Howard was always community minded and a true promoter of Osoyoos, helping tourists and assisting in any way possible.
