December 27, 1944 - October 17, 2018
Although our hearts are filled with sorrow, they also abound with joy. We get to call Howard Bryan Fairfield Stevenson... Dad, Pops, Papa, and Grandpa. We are the descendants of one of our generation's most honourable men - a fierce example of generosity, fairness and passion. All disguised in a denim and plaid red-necked package. His legs were unusually short - to accommodate an extraordinarily long torso and to hold his enormous heart. We are blessed to know him, and humbled to be his kin. Pops had more grit than the earth's deserts combined. He spoke three languages: English, French and Funny. We all inherited his razor-sharp wit, his wonder and most definitely his silly. His legacy is his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - 24 in total. They are spread across our country, Sweden, and are as ethnically diverse as the globe. His legacy is as vibrant as his soul.

He was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec to Ronald Stevenson and Thelma Hart. In total, there were 8 siblings including him: Mervin (deceased), Sherryl, Ron, Gayle, Leah, Lana and Kim (deceased). He was the second eldest. He came out west in the 1960's and eventually settled in Chilliwack, BC. There, he worked for Cattermole Timber, proudly getting "every stick to the barn" and never losing a load. He loved his family, his hockey and his hot rods. He died peacefully at home with his beloved golden retriever, Lily, at his side. He is survived by his wife of over 35 years, Mary Charlton, as well as his first wife, Valorie Mutch. He is also survived by his legacy. His eldest daughter, Karen, lives in Grande Prairie. Karen (Everett) has 5 children: Nicole (Cheryl), Devyn, Dustin, Karly and Taityn (Clayton). Karen also has 6 grandchildren: Ethan, Amaryah, Zarah, Farrell, Micheal and Elliot. His son Steve (Asa), lives in Knivsta, Sweden and has 2 children: Adam and David. His daughter Renae, lives in Abbotsford and has 2 sons, Jason and Owen, and 2 grandchildren, Wyatt and Olivia. His youngest daughter, Johanna (Dave), lives in Chilliwack and has 3 children, Emily, Max and Bree.
