Hilda Nordheimer

On September 5th, 2005 Hilda Nordheimer was rejoicing in Glory with her Savior after having celebrated her 87th birthday just four days earlier with all four daughters beside her. She now joins her beloved husband Henry; her parents; brothers, Arthur and Aldon; sister, Mary Richter and many loved friends and family in Paradise.

Hilda was born to William and Emilia Weiss on August 31st, 1918 in Drake, Saskatchewan, and grew up in the Lockwood and Nokomis area. She attended the Nokomis Baptist Church and gave her heart to the Lord at an early age. Hilda moved to Edmonton to attend Bible School in 1941. It was there she met the love of her life, Henry Nordheimer, at a Christmas dinner and it did not take long for a romance to bloom.

Henry and Hilda married in Edmonton on October 24, 1942 and their union produced 4 daughters who mourn her passing but rejoice in her presence with the Lord; Terrlyn Badger of Everett, Wash., Myra Jeanne Kwast of Lynden, Wash., Denise Muirhead of Surrey, BC and Hilarie Bergmann of Chilliwack, BC. She also leaves her 8 grandchildren, Shelley, Robin, Nathan, Aron, Lindsay, Katrina, Natasha and Sonya and her 5 great-grandchildren. Hilda also leaves her sister Janice Thiessen of Florida whom Henry and Hilda raised as their own when their mother passed away when Janice was 2 years old.

Henry and Hilda lived in Alberta until 1966, when they immigrated to Anaheim, California. Both were very active members of the Sunkist Baptist Church, Hilda in the choir and both enjoying the various activities in the church. Hilda enjoyed the life of a homemaker and nobody could beat her potato salad, barbequed spare ribs or beet borscht!

After 18 years, they moved to Chilliwack to retire and live close to their grandchildren. They both became active members of the Chilliwack Baptist Church until shortly after Henry’s death in 1999 when Hilda was no longer able to regularly attend. The community will miss her.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, September 10, 2005 at 1:30 pm in the Chapel of Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack, BC. A viewing was held at 12:30. Interment in Chilliwack Cemetery. As Hilda enjoyed flowers, we will gladly accept any remembrances of gifting with them.
