During life on the farm they raised cattle and grain and always had a huge garden. In 1980 on retirement they moved to Chilliwack, BC where they lived for 16 years. She enjoyed travelling, bowling, the acreage and the abundance of home grown fruit. In 1996 they moved to Chinook Village in Medicine Hat where they resided until Ben’s passing after 53 years of happy marriage. In 2000 Hilda moved back to Chilliwack to be closer to her daughter. Even though she led a busy life Hilda considered it to be important and found time to be actively involved in the EMCC churches in Spondin, Hanna, Medicine Hat and Chilliwack. She was also involved and a supporter of the Gideons, Hillcrest and Rocky Mountain Colleges, Charis Camp, community and political organizations.
