Herbert William passed away quietly with much dignity and surrounded by family members, at the Chilliwack Hospital on December 29th, 2008.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Jessie (Thomas), sisters Dorothy and Edie, and grandson Capt. Jefferson Francis (Canadian Forces, died 2007, Afghanistan).
He is survived by brother Clarence of Victoria, BC, and Mabel Young of Toronto, sons Russell (Marion), Butch (Kelly), Rocky, and David (Donna), daughter Peggi, grandchildren Mica, Chris, Mikol, Jennifer, Stephen, Matthew, David, and Jessie, great-grandchildren Matthew, Sandra, Ry Logan, Brooklyn and Owen, and many other nieces and nephews.
Herb served 27 years in the Military, most notably with 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Highlanders, the Black Watch. He was an avid sports fan, life-long Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Yankees fan. But what he loved the most was his family.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Please honour his memory with a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.
