A Good Man Is Gone

Passed away at home in the early morning hours on February 11, 2009, Herbert “Bert” George Bennett.

Bert was born in Vancouver on April 11, 1940. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1959 and spent 32 years as a loyal, hard working member. This was followed by 15 years as a Civil Servant with CFB Chilliwack and the RCMP.

Bert served tours of duty all throughout Canada, Germany and the Middle East.

His last Military posting was to CFB Chilliwack.

He had a love of flying, fishing and camping (with the REME Bunch).

Bert is survived by his wife Beverley, son Wes (Wendy), daughter Susan; stepdaughters: Lorna (Kerry), Donna (Al).

He was predeceased by his son Murray. He had eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also survived by stepfather William Wells; brother, Bill; sisters, Lori; Vera Pauline, Susan and Linda.

He was predeceased by his Mother, Vera Wells and his

Father Herbert Bennett, and brother Leslie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 280, 5661 Vedder Rd. Chilliwack, BC at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2009.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the RCL Branch 280 Building Fund would be appreciated.
