Hendrikus Van Wijk

January 1, 1951 - July 23, 2021
On Friday, July 23, 2021, at the age of 70, Henk van Wijk died unexpectedly at his home in Chilliwack, in the arms of his wife, Marja. While we are heartbroken that he is no longer with us, we also rejoice that he is with his Heavenly Father.
He was born on January 1, 1951, in Groningen, the Netherlands. In 1988, he moved, with his wife and children, to the Fraser Valley. Over the next 33 years he spent his time and talent caring for his family and growing the family business, Henk van Wijk Customwork Ltd. He loved his family, he was incredibly hard-working, and lived out his faith in God with integrity and honour.
He will be deeply missed as Husband, Father, Opa, Brother, Friend, and Business Owner.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marja, his children, Karin (and Gary) Riemer, John (and Rachel) van Wijk, Hans (and Nikki) van Wijk, and Rebecca (and Tyler) Buys, his 9 beloved grandchildren, Olivia, Liam, Kaden, Reid, Mason, Hendrik, Ren, Ezra and Judah, as well as his siblings, Riet (and Hans) van Eynatten, Jan (and Alice) VanWyk, Jaap (and Beppego) van Wijk, Klaas (and Darlene) VanWyk.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jan and Trijntje, and his older sister, Hilda Sterken.
Henk will be buried with his family present at Vedder View Cemetery. A public Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at 1 pm at Cornerstone Christian Reformed Church on 9800 McNaught Road, Chilliwack. BC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations are made to the Chilliwack Hospice Society.
