Henk was born April 28, 1924 in Haarlem, Netherlands. He died September 8, 2019 in the Chilliwack Cascade Hospice, at age 95. Henk was the oldest of nine children.
In his early years Henk left Holland for Canada in the fall of 1953. Most of his life was working on a dairy farm in the Fraser Valley. He went back to Holland to marry Maria Olsthoorn on November 22, 1956. They were married for 62 years. He tried to work his own farm in Agassiz, but it did not work out so well, so he decided to be a herdsman until retirement. He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus in the Catholic Church.
Henk leaves behind his wife Maria, his children, Margaret (Anthony), Johanes, Maria and Anne (Doug); three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Henk is predeceased by his daughter Marti, two brothers, one sister and five in-laws.
