Helena Derksen passed away peacefully on July 16, 2012 at Chilliwack General Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on September 8, 1919 in Blumenort #7, Ukraine her life as a child and a young adult were difficult due to poverty and war. Life improved for her and her young family when they moved to Canada and settled in Greendale. Family and her faith community at Greendale MB were always her top priority.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters; Vera (Sid) Unger of Chilliwack and Laura (Wallace) Loge of West Kelowna and four sons; John (Tina) Derksen of Williams Lake, Henry (Terri) Derksen of Armstrong, Ron (Carol) Derksen of Chilliwack and Rudy (Fay) of Winfield. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews as well as friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband John in 1984.

A special thank you to the staff of Norman Manor who provided support this past year and to the staff and doctors in the ER and 4North CGH who gave gentle care the last few days of her life.

A memorial service will be held at Greendale MB church on Monday, July 23 at 11:00 am.
