Helen Schmautz of Valley Haven Guest Home passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct 14, 2005. She was born Helen Rosenau in Kalinchifka, Romania.
Helen immigrated to Canada in the fall of 1927 with her family. They settled in Hanna, Alberta and from there to Vegreville. In 1936 Helen married Robert Schmautz. They farmed in the Vegreville area and in the spring of 1945 moved to Chilliwack, B.C.
Helen enjoyed gardening and above all going to church services.
Helen is survived by her children Lillian Schmautz, Kenneth Schmautz and Caralon Thompson, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and four sisters.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, infant daughter, Mom and Dad, sister Frieda and brother Albert, son-in-law Darryl (Caralon) Thompson and daughter-in-law Lydia (Ken’s) wife.
A burial will take place at 12:30 at the Chilliwack Cemetery. A service will be held on Thursday, October 18th at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home. Rev. Brian Derksen officiating.
