It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother on Friday, June 26, 2009.
Helen was born in Wishaw, Scotland on January 18, 1919. Her family moved to the U.S.A. in the early 1920’s then to Drumheller, Alberta a few years later. There she went to school and later met and married her partner of 68 years, Harold Cowles.
They had one child, daughter Beverly Joan Cowles (Larson). They resided in Drumheller until 1956, then moved to Calgary, then to Surrey, BC in 1963, and finally to Chilliwack in 2001.
Helen is predeceased by her brother Robert Kerr in 2001 and her husband Harold in 2005.
She was always active in her community and church organizations, and loved being with her family and grandchildren. We will all miss her.
She is survived by her daughter Beverly of Chilliwack; grandsons: Kevin (Judy) Larson of Chilliwack, Jeff (Kathy) Larson of Drumheller and Graham (Carrie) Larson of Victoria; great-grandchildren: Dale and Marissa, Kyle and Tyler, Reanna and Eric; sister, Betty Cragg (Lindsay) of Oliver; and brother, Andy (June) Lindsay of White Rock.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday July 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Avenue, Chilliwack, BC
