Helen McGARRY

December 23, 2005

(Oct. 4, 1920 - Dec. 23, 2004)

Helen McGarry passed away after a stroke whist visiting her daughter in Vernon.

She was born in County Cork, Ireland and grew up in London, England, before coming to Canada with her husband George in 1973.

Helen left this world after living in it with devotion, affection, humour and courage. She was a wonderful wife to the late George, whom she called “Presh” and a loving and dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Pamela and PJ, George and Jan, John and Frances, Denise and Don. She adored her grandchildren Jonathan, Shem, Thomas, Patrick, Kate, Timothy Jessica and Alexander and treasured her great grandchildren who loved her tea parties.

It is impossible to adequately describe all her sweet and endearing qualities. She was and still is a force in the lives of those who knew and loved her and for them her brightness will never fade. She gave generously of what she had, even to the occasional stranger standing shivering outside the Chilliwack Malls.

Her garden, she tended with loving care, her good neighbours at Promontory Lake Estates she valued and appreciated. Their friendship, care and kindness to her after she lost her beloved husband was a source of comfort to her. To all she came into contact, she left them saying “God bless”.

Requiem Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, January 4th 2005 at 11:00 am. Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
