On Sunday, May 24, 2009, Helen Loewen (nee Reimer) passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Helen Loewen was born in Rueckenau, Ukraine on August 10, 1922 to William and Helena Reimer. In 1924 the Reimer family immigrated to Canada and settled in Kitchener, Ontario.

Helen had one brother, Henry William Reimer born October 26, 1924. A few years later, they moved to Chortitz, Manitoba where the family settled on a farm. Helen was baptized at Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church. The Reimer family moved to Yarrow, B.C. in 1943. Helen married Herman Loewen on August 28, 1943. In 1958 they moved to Chilliwack. Herman and Helen had four daughters and one son.

Helen is survived by daughters: Viola Martha Cass (Dan), Dorothea Janice Lindhout (Hank), Debra Gail Helen McMahon (Tom); and son Christopher William Loewen; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, daughter Irene in 1971, husband Herman in 1983, brother Henry in 2001.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Broadway MB Church, 46611 Maple Avenue, Chilliwack commencing at 11:00 a.m., reception to follow in the church gymnasium. Donations in Helen’s memory to The Gideon Bible Society will be gratefully received.
