July 3, 1934 - June 23, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our much loved mom.
Born in Exstew, BC, Helen was the eldest of six, and spent her younger years in the Hazelton area until she married and relocated to Prince Rupert. She worked as a practical nurse, living in several areas throughout BC before settling in Chilliwack in 1974.
Helen raised 5 children, Terry (deceased), Lorraine, Arsen, Karen and Lana. After the birth of her youngest child, she no longer worked in nursing and moved on to home care until she retired.
She was an incredibly strong, hard working woman who did everything possible for her children and will be cherished forever by her family. Helen loved people - she was interested in talking to everyone she came into contact with, and had a great deal of empathy and compassion. She had many interests which included reading, baking, traveling and gardening, which was her passion.
Helen was also a long time member of the Rebekah Lodge. Her friends and family were most important to her and she spent as much time with them as possible. She had the opportunity to travel to both Europe and Asia, and visited Italy, Germany and Japan, the latter two on several occasions. She had a strong, caring and engaging personality, she will be remembered with love and missed by many. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Celebration of Life to be held at a future date.
