Oct 3, 1925 – Dec 1, 2017
Helen Annie Braun was born October 3, 1925 in Sagradovkca, Russia. Her parents, Peter and Annie Kroeker along with mom came to Canada in 1926. She spent her growing up years in Saskatchewan. After finishing grade 8, she helped on the family farm by working in the fields with a team of horses and milking cows. After a few years she went to Coaldale Bible school and later took a sewing course.
Once our dad, Henry Braun came to meet mom, they were married within the month, on Aug. 6, 1948 and moved to La Glace, Alberta. They were blessed with 4 children: Mavis, Gary, Grace and Gloria. In 1959 the family moved to a farm at Chilliwack, B.C. There Helen enjoyed the farm life. She helped with the dairy and later in the raspberry patch.
She loved gardening, sewing and was very hospitable. Helen sold the farm after Henry was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She moved into Chilliwack in 1983. She enjoyed her church, quilting, carpet bowling, watching curling, travelling and having coffee with friends. Church and faith were a very important part of her life. She was baptized in her youth and after coming to Chilliwack became a member of Central Community Church. Helen served on various committees throughout her years at Central.
On Friday, December 1, 2017, she went peacefully to be with Jesus.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry of 34 years, son Marlin in 1949, 2 siblings.
Helen is survived by her children Mavis (Mel) Schulz, Gary (Luanne) Braun, Grace (Larry) Dickinson, Gloria (Calvin) Penner, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and siblings, Betty Warkentin, Jake Kroeker, Mary Cameron.
