(nee Nelson)

(Oct. 16, 1950 - April 2, 2009)

Many will mourn the passing of Heather Karen Webb (nee Nelson), a dedicated former school teacher with Chilliwack School District #33, who passed away on April 2, 2009 at the age of 58, after a short but tragic illness and battle with lung cancer.

Heather was born in Chilliwack October 16, 1950, and is a descendent of one of Chilliwack’s pioneering families, the Chadseys.

Heather lived her entire life in Chilliwack, and after graduating from

Simon Fraser University, she enjoyed a fulfilling career teaching elementary school for 33 years at both Watson and Little Mountain schools.

Her gifted abilities as a teacher endeared her to students, parents, and fellow teachers alike. Many will remember her best for her wonderful and festive Christmas musical productions and the extra quality time she so freely gave to her students through musical instruction. She touched so many young lives with her dedication to what was truly her greatest calling in life.

Heather happily retired from teaching and enjoyed three years of wonderfully full days of retirement freedom before she was stricken with her illness.

Heather was a master gardener, an avid sewer and knitter, and her artistic abilities were reflected in everything she touched. Her friends and family will remember and miss her wonderful wit, her infectious sense of humour, and the intelligence and sensitivity with which she approached all of life’s joys and sorrows. Heather loved nothing more than enjoying her Sunday crossword puzzles, her daily walks around Fairfield Island Park, reading a good book, tending to cat Humphrey, visiting with old friends, and especially spending time with her beloved husband Ray.

She will be deeply mourned, and so very missed in so many peoples’ lives.

Heather is predeceased by her parents Victor and Kathleen Nelson (Chadsey), and is survived by husband Ray Webb, daughter Victoria Varga (Michael), sisters Margaret Gauthier and Lorraine Tonn (Don), nieces, and many cousins.

An informal drop-in Memorial Tea will be held for Heather at Henderson’s Funeral Home on April 14th 2009 at Henderson’s Tea Room from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Heather’s name to the Chilliwack Safe Haven Cat Rescue Society or The Canadian Cancer Society.

“Gone from our lives, but never forgotten … and just until we meet again.”
