Harry Sukkan passed away peacefully at the Chilliwack General Hospital on August 3, 2009 at age 94. He was born on November 28th 1914 in Langham, Saskatchewan, to Margaret and Abraham Sukkan. Harry had 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Harry was a butcher by trade. On August 23, 1942, Harry married Hannah Mammel. They spent 67 wonderful years together until her passing on June 19th of this year.
They had 2 children, twins, a son and a daughter, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. They lived at their farm on Lickman Rd. in Sardis for 48 years. He served in the army for 7 years. Due to a broken back, he was honorably discharged from the Army. He then worked in stores as a civil servant for Canadian Forces Base in Chilliwack, for 25 years.
Funeral Services will be held from the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2009. A reception will be held after the funeral at the funeral home tea room and burial will follow at the Chilliwack Royal Canadian Legion Cemetery on Little Mountain.
