November 4, 1950 - December 29, 2019
On Sunday, December 29, 2019 in Chilliwack, BC, surrounded by her family, Hanne took her last breaths. Hanne was born on November 4, 1950 in Sonderborg, Denmark. Immigrating to Montreal from Denmark, Hanne graduated from the last nursing class at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Montreal QC in 1972, moving to British Columbia after nursing school.
Hanne had a successful career, nursing, in the Federal Prison system until retirement in 1996. During their lives Mom and Dad have owned successful businesses in Chilliwack, Little Johns Bulldozing, Eagleview Nut Processors, Junction Car Wash and The Roadhouse Bar & Grill. Mom was the back bone and shining star in every aspect of these operations. She was the hardest working "retired" woman you would have ever met.Mom made the best canned beets and blackberry jam you have ever tasted, was great at knitting and always loved a meal she didn't have to cook. Reading was one of her favorite past times, always having a book on the go, mom
was known for reading up to 3 books at a time. Every chance she got to play a round of cards or try her luck at the casinos she was sure to come out ahead.Mom and dad liked to vacation where it was hot. A lot of great memories were made on those trips to Las Vegas, Hawaii and Mexico. Mom lived for her Patriots. If there was a game on, she was watching. Game days were her special days with her boys and her friends, always placing a bet on her team and sporting her Brady jersey, even on her last day, the Patriots were on and the jersey was out. Mom made friends wherever she went. Most recently "The Lunch Bunch" Lynne, Casey, Barry, Doug and the girls at Characters. You all held a special place in mom's heart. While we sit with heavy hearts, we are comforted by knowing that
she is now playing the poker game of her life, with her best friend Yvonne by her side. Our sincerest gratitude goes out to Dr. Legresley for her most amazing care and compassion for mom and our family, dear friend and Palliative Nurse, Katherine for her wisdom and understanding of moms needs at any time of the day, to the staff at Cascade Hospice, Gary, Eloise, Rachel, Jaz, Nav, Deepa, Cleo, Diane, and Rachel, you all are the best care givers we could have ever asked for. We are eternally grateful to you all.
Hanne will be memorialized by her husband John, children Steven, Erika (Justin), Rick (Shannon), Richard (Heather), Sabrina and her grandchildren, Kaylee, Dominic, Breann, Olivia, Maisy, Bryce, Maddison, Cayden, Hailey, Devon, Ava and Amaya, her sister Pernille, brother Victor (Suellen), niece Laura and nephew Jordan.
