After a lengthy illness Granville Alfred Dando, passed away on June 7, 2004 at the Chilliwack General Hospital, Chilliwack, BC. Granville was born on June 3, 1922 on his parent’s farm 1 mile from Waskada, Man.
He was the second son born to Enoch and Martha Dando. He grew up in the Goodlands and Waterloo area and worked on his parent’s farm.
On October 6, 1942, he married Hazel May Temple. His early years were spent farming at Waskada, Man. and enjoying Lake Metigoshe until 1970. He moved to Vancouver, BC to manage an apartment building for 12 years. He retired at Harrison Hot Springs and Chilliwack.
Granville had great joy in teaching many people, both young and old to water-ski at Lake Metigoshe. He had water-skied in MB, SK, AB, BC and North Dakota. His last ski was at the age of 72 years.
He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren growing up. His greatest loves in life were hunting, fishing, dancing and playing cards with his friends and telling stories.
Granville is survived by Hazel, his loving wife of 62 years, son, Murray (Donna) of Bonnyville, AB; daughter, Shirley (Jeff) of Abbotsford, BC; grandchildren, Melody (Gerard), Hanna, AB, Candace (Bryan), St Albert, AB, Darcy, London, England, Daniel (Sue) Abbotsford, BC, Carla (Marty), Abbotsford BC; Great grandchildren, Brendan, Jared, Rochelle, Nikolas, Mikayla, and Luke. He is also survived by his brother, Jim (Mildred) of Winnipeg, MB and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His parents Enoch and Martha, infant brother and son, Howard, predeceased him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 11, 2004 at 11 am from the Chapel of Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave. Chilliwack BC, Rev. Doug Ireland officiating.
