Grace Moore of Chilliwack, B.C. passed into the presence of her Lord June 9, 2022 at the age of 94 years. Grace was the younger of two children born at Arnes, Manitoba to Mundi and Teenie Helgason. She was predeceased by Richard, her loving husband of 62 years, her parents, her brother, Laurie Helgason and granddaughter, Jennifer Muirhead.
While teaching in Glenboro, Manitoba, Grace met her husband, Richard Moore. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who shone at serving, hospitality and teaching. While raising her children, she served in church, sang in the choir, lead girls' 4-H, and developed her gift of teaching special education students. Grace obtained her permanent teaching certificate from Brandon College and taught at Brandon and Minnedosa. When Grace and Richard moved to Lac du Bonnet, she earned her B.Ed. (Special Education) from the University of Manitoba while teaching full time. Upon their final professional move, Grace led the Special Education program at Manitou, Manitoba. The first 12 years of their retirement, Richard and Grace usually wintered in Arizona and spent the rest of the year in Manitou.
In 2001 Richard and Grace moved to Chilliwack where they made many friends in church and the local community. After Richard's passing, Grace enjoyed living at The Auburn and eventually as she had planned, moved to The Waverly Seniors Village.
Grace is survived by four children, nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Grace had loving relationships with all her family. We wish to especially thank Dr. Ling Low and the wonderful staff at Waverly Seniors Village for the exceptional care they provided her.
A memorial service was held at Riverside Christian Reformed Church, Agassiz, BC, June 25, 2022, 11:00 am, Pastor Shawn Vandop officiating. Interment to follow at Glenboro, MB.
