Gordon Cecil KLIEVER

October 10, 2004

Gordon Cecil Kliever died on Sunday October 10, 2004, after a year and a half battle with lymphoma. He died at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Gordie will be sadly missed by his parents Jack and Renie Kliever, his sister Dianne (Dale) Sharpe. His brothers, John (Wilma) Kliever, Dan (Georgia) Kliever. He loved his nieces and nephews, Kurt and Laura Sharpe, Ernie, Craig and Annie Kliever and Jenna and Amber Kliever.

Gordie was born October 2, 1949 in Chilliwack, B.C. He moved to Powell River, B.C. in 1952 with his parents and sister from Oyster River. He grew up and went to school in Powell River. He was very active in the school drama club and enjoyed playing many lead roles. His first job was stocking shelves at the Black Point Store. He moved back to Chilliwack in 1967 with his parents, sister and brothers.

In 1968 he struck off on his own to work at The Alkalai Lake Ranch for 5 years. He went back to Powell River to work at the Beach Garden Resort and then to Babine Lake Resort. He then worked at the Manning Park Resort Restaurant and finally was an employee of the Dairy Farm Corner’s Pride in Chilliwack for 22 years.

He bought his own home and enjoyed the harvest from his fruit trees and garden.

Gordie was always known to be a hard working employee and to his friends he was someone who was always there to listen and to make us all laugh. As one of his best friends wrote to him “You’ve made my life happier and I am a better person because of you and know forever that you have been and always will be, my friend.”

Gordie requested that his immediate family have a dinner celebration in his memory.

The family wish to thank the Home Care Nurses and Gordie’s family physician, Dr. G. Enns and Dr. Kerr for their availability, compassion and guidance during Gordon’s end of life journey.
