"My Valentine has gone fishing."

Gord was born in Chilliwack growing up at Cultus Lake. He did a short term in the army with the PPCLI eventually returning home to Chilliwack. He had a variety of interesting careers during his lifetime. He worked at CFB as a civilian driver, worked with the Conservation Officer Service, was a Park Ranger at Golden Ears and eventually became owner operator of Day Off Guided Fishing Adventures.

Fishing the Vedder and the Fraser Rivers was his passion. He also loved fly tying and building lures. His health began to fail him the past few years, suffering from diabetes and some severe complications from that disease. He always had a smile, great sense of humour and his favourite saying was "It is what it is."

He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Merle, daughter Kimberley, step daughters JoAnna (Matthew) and Vicki (Todd) and his pride and joy, grandbabies Mika, Sasha, Giada and Rylea. Dad, George Smith. Brothers, John, Mike and Rollie. Miss you sweetheart, happy fishing and tight lines.

Celebration of life will take place on September 15th 2018 at 1:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, Charles Street, Chilliwack.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
