Gordon Allan (Gordie) McKAY

Gordon Allan (Gordie) McKay late of Chilliwack, B.C. passed away peacefully on January 11, 2004 at the age of 86 years. Born July 31, 1917 in Plato, Sask. Gordie was a golf pro & superintendent. He designed the Chilliwack and Hope Golf and Country Clubs, Squamish Valley, Aquadel & Kinkora Golf Courses, as well as being the Canadian consultant on the Whistler Golf Course designed by Arnold Palmer. He also consulted on many other courses around B.C. Curling was his winter pastime.

He is survived by Doris, his wife of 64 years; 2 children Lynne (Wayne) Larsen of Chilliwack; Allan (Leona) of Williams Lake, B.C.; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a brother Chester (Doreen) McKay of Sardis.

He was predeceased by his son Ian in 1994, sister, Florence and brother, Russell.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home. Major Angus Haggarty officiating.

Cremation, Valley Crematorium, Chilliwack.

Should family and friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon.
