GOODY, Gora Eileen (nee Taverna)

Gone to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 25, 2016 is Gora Eileen Goody (nee Taverna) aged 79 but she would like you to believe 29.

Gora was predeceased by her parents James and Eleanor Taverna (they were known as Jimmy and Babe); sister, Lily and brother, William (he was known as Barney) all from Ottawa, Ontario. Also son, George Anthony Goody of Vernon, B.C. and grandson, Jeff Boudreau of Kamloops, B.C.

She is survived by her sister, Carol Medaglia of Gloucester, Ontario and numerous nieces and nephews; her husband, John J. Goody, whom she married when she was 16 years old; her sons, John Jr. and Tim and her daughter Carol as well as numerous grand and great grandchildren.

Gora was an extremely talented crochet artist who mastered her craft in her youth. The things she could make out of a long piece of string or yarn was absolutely amazing. For many years she was an active and dedicated member (awarded lifetime membership) of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 280 until COPD (it used to be called chronic lung disease) forced her to park herself on the couch in front of the t.v. The medication caused her hands to tremble terribly so watching her try to eat was difficult and hilarious at the same time. She laughed about it too.

Please come and help us remember and celebrate Gora's feistiness at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 280 on Thursday, April 07 2016 at 1:00 pm, Father Fred Tassinari officiating.

Thanks to Dr. Esau, Dr. Nyiranda and all the nurses of 5 North. Special thank you's to Gordy and Opal for all their help.
