LINDGREN, Gladys Lucy

February 10, 1924 - April 17, 2016

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of a wonderful, loving and compassionate woman. Predeceased by sisters Dorothy, Gwen, Grethyll and her husband Albert Roland Lindgren, she is survived by her many remaining nephews and nieces. She will be fondly remembered as the perfect example of what an aunt should be like. Born in Westleton, East Suffolk, England to parents James and Daisy Bray the family emigrated to Canada in June 1924 on the S.S. Minnedosa as 3rd class passengers landing in Quebec. Further travel west continued with a short time spent in Edmonton before moving on to Chilliwack in November 1927. Sisters Gwen, Grethyll and Dorothy were born by 1937 although Dorothy passed away as an infant shortly after birth. Family always came first to the Brays and Gladys had a stern, but loving upbringing. In 1945 Gladys met and married Albert (Lindy) Lindgren in a union that lasted until Lindy's passing in 2012. Gladys enjoyed working for Canada Packers, later York Farms, spending over 28 years with the company and took early retirement in 1979. This loving couple was extremely dedicated to each other. They were able to travel the world enjoying many trips during their time together. An angel is what Gladys was and is now. She will continue to be in our thoughts and conversations in the years to come. A Celebration of Life for Gladys will be held at the Lynnwood Retirement Residence, 9168 Corbould St., Chilliwack on Saturday May 21st at 1:00 PM.
