June 14, 1936 - June 14, 2018
Giovanni (John) Bonato passed away on June 14, 2018 at Chilliwack General Hospital on his 82nd birthday. He was born June 14, 1936 in Salcedo, Vicenza, Italy. John will be deeply missed by his wife of 55 years Rina; daughters Dorothy (Calvin), Diana (Sam), Melody (Dale); son Andy (Nicky); grandchildren Connor, Logan, Clay, Trey, Zachary, Kobe, and Kyle.
John moved to Canada in 1956 and then moved Rina here in 1963 after they were married. John worked as a Heavy Duty Mechanic and Welder for Cattermole Timber for many years. He made many good, lifelong friends there.
John was a strong and wonderful man. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Nonno was very proud of his 7 grandson's. He was a true Italian. He loved to entertain and offered a glass of home-made wine to all that visited.
A drop-in Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 between 1:00 and 3:00 in the Tea Room at Henderson's Funeral Home at 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arthritis Research Canada. The family would like to thank Nurse Sari at Chilliwack General Hospital, ICU, for all her care.
