(April 11, 1929- July 30, 2009)

Gilda Gilbert, our dear Mom and Granny, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by many of her loved ones. She was born in Parsboro, Nova Scotia where she met and married her husband Corlis (Hank) Gilbert who predeceased her in 2003. They had 4 children together and travelled many places, being a military family, before settling in Chilliwack in 1972.

Gilda was a loving, bright and beautiful woman who was very dedicated to her children whom all survive her; Teresa (Charlie) Curiston, Patricia (Rick) O’Brien, Richard (Judy) Gilbert and Michael (Sara) Gilbert, as well as 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Shawn Burnby (Teresa and Ian Burnby) and a granddaughter, Melissa Gilbert (Mike and Sara Gilbert), with whom she is now reunited. Her strength and trademark sense of humour were a treasure to us all. She will be forever and profoundly missed by all who knew.

The family would like to invite all who knew Gilda to a celebration of her life on Wednesday, Aug. 5th at 1:00 p.m. to be held at the Salvation Army Church on Brooks Ave., Chilliwack.
