At the age of 90, Gertrudes Agustin Pablo, passed away at 3:57 PM on January 10, 2018, at the Surrey Memorial Hospital.
She was born on March 17, 1927, in Mayantoc, Tarlac, Philippines. After graduating with a degree in Elementary Education (BSEED), Gertrudes started working in remote barrios, miles away from where she lived. She walked everyday to teach in these small villages.
One year, she was coronated as, "Miss Mayantoc", because of her intelligence and beauty. In her hometown, she was known as 'one of the beauty queens'. It was that moment, when she met her husband, Jose Pablo Sr. in 1947. They got married and it was the start to a wonderful life, together.
For the next 35 years, she dedicated herself to teaching all subjects, volunteered for community events and even enjoyed the arts on her own time.
In 1982, she moved to Canada and 4 years later, she became a citizen. It was then (already being a loving and caring mother of 6), she became a grandmother of 10 and a great grandmother to 2.
Her 6 children (and spouses) are: Jose (Tita), Rolando (Thess), Priscillo (Emma), Marilyn (Tony), Abner (Gina), Virgilio (Loreta). €Her grandchildren are: Phillip, Mori, Joel, Abigael, Jessa, Joseph, Joval, Jen, Joshua and Samantha. Her great grandchildren are: Abrielle and Isla.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 7:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8909 Mary St., Chilliwack, BC.
A funeral mass will follow at St. Mary's on Friday January 19, 2018 at 11AM. Fr. Davide Lanzani as the Celebrant. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery.
