Gerry (Luke) VALENTA

January 23, 2003

It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Luke, age 55, passed away suddenly on January 23, 2003 in his home at Salmo. Luke was born March 9, 1947 in New Westminster.

He spent most of his early years in Chilliwack where he attended school, worked for a few local car lots and met his wife of 26 years. They moved to Grand Forks where Luke worked at the Pope and Talbot Mill for 18 years as a heavy duty mechanic.

He enjoyed the company of family and friends. Music was one of the ways he showed it, wherever Luke went, so did his guitar, and a favourite song. His shop doors were never closed to someone with a car in need of repair. Luke’s greatest passions were stock cars and Harley Davidsons.

He is survived by his loving mother Helen (Cliff) Souther; brothers, Howard (Mary) Stevenson, and Ed (Reesa) Valenta; sisters, Linda (Dean) Ferby, Fawn (Ron) Raven, and Kathy Campbell; wife Kathy (nee Penner); daughters, Lisa (Justin) Spalek, and Angie Valenta; son Aaron Valenta; grandchildren, Ebony Spalek, and Soloman Valenta; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends.

He will be forever in our hearts.
