June 2, 1932 - November 5, 2024

On November 5th, Gerard (Jerry) passed away peacefully at Cascade Hospice. Jerry is predeceased by his wife of 63 years Rita Tremblay.

He is survived by daughters Collette Whalley (Dan) and Nicole Sydor (Michael), son Paul Tremblay (Veronica), 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, sister Beatrice and brother Peter. Predeceased by his infant son Mark and brother Leonce.

Jerry was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec, and at a young age moved with his family to New Westminster. He attended school in the area and eventually learned to be an artist and sign maker. He met his future wife at a Catholic young adult group.

Jerry and Rita married in 1960 and moved to Surrey. Children soon followed with Collette and Nicole, being born less than a year apart and Paul several years later. Jerry owned and operated a sign making business for most of his career while raising their family.

Jerry loved RC airplane flying, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Building RC airplanes was a lifelong passion with many built to scale. He thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie amongst fellow RC club members. Often twice a year for over 40 years Jerry went fishing at Loon Lake with family and friends. Many, many fond memories were created amongst his son, brothers, cousins, sons-in-law, and close friends.

No doubt his most treasured times were with his family. Jerry was always eager to attend every family event and was up to doing almost any local adventure whether it be the annual Abbotsford and Chilliwack airshows, art performances like Circus Soleil or airplane rides.

Jerry was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they loved him. He treasured every moment they had together and was especially thrilled when he gave the great grandkids a ride on his scooter to the local candy store!

Jerry was a devout Catholic. He loved the Lord and now is home with his Heavenly Father. He was much loved and will be dearly missed.

The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Elim Village for making the past seven months enjoyable for Jerry and his family. We'd also like to thank the staff at Chilliwack Hospital and Cascade Hospice for their friendly and caring approach in supporting Jerry and his family over his last few weeks.
