(Feb. 13, 1926 - Jan. 28, 2009)

With deep sadness and loving memories of a good life, well lived, we mourn the death of Gerry Gourley our beloved wife and mother.

Gerry leaves behind her loving husband and bestfriend, Homer; daughters: Suzan and JoAnn; niece and nephew, Sally and Bill Smart, and many cheriested friends, (you know who you are).

She also will be greatly missed by her borhters and their wives, Lloyd (Doris), Ronal (June), and Fin (Fay) Sproule; brother/sister-in-law Daryl (Jean) Gourley and the many nieces and nephews from these family, as well as JoAnn’s stepdaughters; Torni McKay and Tamara Mulder, and husband Rich Mulder and their children Joanna and John. She knew them well and loved them all.

Gerry’s parents Herman and Bessie Sproule, Watson, SK, Homer’s sister Mildred and her husband Bert Smart, Saskatoon, SK; and her beloved niece Lee Sprouel predeceased her.

We all have loved and lost a great lady. Gerry was kind and generous in spirit, creative, courageous, funny and beautiful as well. She always made us proud. She was a terrific wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. You will always be in our hearts dear lady, but honestly we would rather you were still here in person because it is just not the same at all.

The family is forever grateful to the staff at Fraser Valley Home Health Care, Dr. R. Carlson, his staff and lastly, but not least, to Dr. R. Bull, The Cascade Hospice, its staff and volunteers. The amazing dedication, compassion and kindness showed not just to Gerry and her family, but to all that knock at their doors in hope, dismay, and despair, is the noblest expression of their professions.

No service will be held at Gerry’s request. Instead of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to The Cascade Hospice, 45586 McIntosh Dr., Chilliwack, BC V2P 7W8 so that these dedicated people may continue to provide their community with such a valuable service or to any hospice of your choice.
