IKLE Gerald William. March 1, 1935 - August 9, 2013. We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Gerald William Ikle, peacefully in his sleep on August 9, 2013 at the age of 78. Gerald leaves behind his children: Geraldine, David (Stella) and Mark (Angelique); grandchildren: Jennifer, Christian, Amber, Alicia and Brooke; and great grandchildren: David and Jennea.
He will also be missed by sister in law, Carol (Tim) Walker of Calgary, as well as his friends and neighbours.
Son of Lena (nee: Travaglia) and Joseph Ikle, Gerald was born Lethbridge, Alberta on March 1, 1935. He married our mother, Maxine Louise (nee Fruet) in 1956 and was predeceased by her after 54 years of marriage in 2010. He established residence in Chilliwack in 1979 and shortly thereafter started a metal brokerage business which kept him busy for over 30 years. Fiercely independent, enterprising and hardworking, he will also be remembered by those who knew him well as a kind- hearted individual who did not hesitate to help those less fortunate than himself. His last wish was to have his ashes released to the winds of the Rockies in southern Alberta. At his request, there will be no formal service.
