Fredeswinda (Winda) Lucette Redding, 79, passed away on May 31, 2023. She battled cancer for over 2 years but it was the sudden death of her spouse, Richard Redding, that caused her to give up the fight.
Winda was born in Southern Leyte, Philippines and was the only child of Lupo and Josephine Petilla. She received her Bachelor of Arts in the Philippines before immigrating to Vancouver, BC. She married Rick Redding in 1968 and they made Chilliwack their home in 1971.
She will be remembered and cherished by her friends and family: daughter, Christl (Dave) McCracken and her grandsons Logan (Alyssa), Duncan and Evan.
Nothing made her prouder than her grandsons.
She was predeceased by her parents and is also survived by several beloved cousins in the United States, Germany and the Philippines.
Winda had a curious, adventurous spirit and never shied away from a challenge. After immigrating to Canada, she worked in several roles and eventually fulfilled a dream of running her own business in 1989 when she bought a local travel agency.
She was a dedicated Lions Club member and volunteered for several years with the annual Music and Dance festival and Lions Club thrift store. She later managed St. Mary's Mother Theresa's Place.
Over the years, Winda used photography, calligraphy, ceramics, macrame and writing to express her creativity. She loved her pets, reading, travelling, and researching topics of interest. She was active on many online forums and had a keen interest in politics.
Her memory will live on. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Mary's parish.
A service will be held at a later date.
