(nee Johnson)

1921 – 2011

Flo passed away peacefully on February 13, 2011 with loving family members at her side.

She was born on May 6, 1921 in Kipling, Saskatchewan and raised on the family farm. Her sense of adventure took her to Winnipeg where she met and married Percy Williamson in 1941. She was left a widow with 4 young children in 1950.

She later married Jack Katchen and enjoyed a full life with him until he passed away in 2001. They are remembered in Quesnel as the Best Dressed Couple in period costume at Billy Barker Days in 1977. Flo was also predeceased by her son Jim, Jack’s son Bill, grandson Rick and 8 of her 11 siblings.

Her legacy lives on in the generations of surviving family who sadly miss her. Flo’s 5 children are Doug, Larry, Dennis (wife Julie), Sharon and Wayne (wife Dina) and Jack’s daughter Denny. Together, Flo and Jack are survived by 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Aunty Flo’s large extended family remembers her fondly. The support of family, her great sense of humour and determined spirit carried her through many challenging times in her life.

The family thanks all of the caring staff at Cascades Lodge who played a huge role in making Flo’s life enjoyable in the last 2 years while her health was declining.

The family welcomes you to a memorial service and tea at Henderson’s Funeral Home in Chilliwack on Monday, February 21 at 2 pm. Flowers are gratefully declined; however, a donation to the Veteran’s Association would be appreciated.
