Flora Blanche BERGSTROME

Flora Bergstrome was born November 20, 1917 in Adanac, Sask, and passed away July 5, 2012 at Eden Care Centre at the age of 94.

She is survived by her daughter, Breen (Charlie); granddaughter Flora Robison who was named after her; son, Scott (Moira); six other grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and six nieces and nephews.

Flora was predeceased by her sisters Ruby, Peg and Frankie; her daughter Johan and son Brant.

After moving from Adanac to Summerland at age seven, Flora spent her entire life in Summerland but the last eight years in Chilliwack. A singing career began at the age of ten in church choirs, expanding to a life time mandate of sharing music everywhere. For over 80 years she lived a life of music and song as soloist, choir and band member. She was well known as lead soprano in Summerland Singer’s and Players Gilbert and Sullivan productions in the 50’s and 60’s.

After moving to Chilliwack in 2004, Flora began a trio “The Three Generations” with her daughter Breen and granddaughter Flora performing folk music and other old classics at The Birchwood, Heritage Village, The Waverly, Norman Manor and her last performance at Eden Care Centre when she was 93.

She was a woman of tremendous courage, humour, kindness and generousity. She had an inquisitive mind and creative soul. He door was always open with a song in hand.

The family wishes to thank Eden Care Centre Staff, especially Yvonne, as well as other the men and women of the East wing who cared for mom during her last three years.

At her request there will be no service. Her ashes will be interred with family in Summerland.
